Rework and Coating

Protection for demanding environments.
Careful rework when it matters.

Some boards need protecting, and some need a second look. STIM applies conformal coating, adhesives and encapsulants to protect assemblies in demanding environments, and reworks BGA and other delicate components with the care complex boards require.

Selective Conformal Coating

Conformal coating protects assemblies from moisture, dust and contaminants, but connectors and test points must stay clear. Keep-out areas are masked before coating, and every board is inspected once the masking is removed.

Our Conformal Coating Process

A controlled sequence that protects the areas that need it and keeps the rest clear.

Plan your coating requirements
  1. 01

    DEFINE THE COATING

    Requirements Review

Coating material, coverage and keep-out areas confirmed with you.

  2. 02

    PROTECT THE KEEP-OUTS

    Masking

Connectors, test points and other keep-out areas masked before coating.

  3. 03

    APPLY WITH CONTROL

    Coating

Automated or manual application, selected for the board and its volume.

  4. 04

    CURE AND CHECK

    Cure and Inspection

Coating cured, masking removed and every board inspected.

BGA and Delicate Component Rework

Reworking complex packages calls for the right tools, controlled heat and experienced hands. Every reworked board is checked before it moves on.

Assessment
The defect and its cause reviewed before rework begins.
Controlled heat
Heating controlled to protect the board and nearby components.
Verification
Reworked joints inspected, including X-ray for hidden connections.
Workmanship
Rework carried out by IPC-trained technicians.
